How coaching culture transforms an organization
Coaching is fast becoming an essential discipline for creating the critical impact – the measurable changes to beliefs, attitudes and behaviours – that can transform an organization – and its leaders -- at the core. When an organization embraces a coaching culture, it enhances the strengths of its existing culture so the entire organization can perform at a higher level.
Such a profound culture shift opens up new possibilities for, and releases new energy in leaders and individuals throughout organizations. A coaching culture develops and strengthens leadership at every level. It enables leaders to see with greater clarity, act with more energetic purpose and lead with more support and confidence. These elements are crucial to swiftly adapting to, and thriving in constant change.
Essential Impact provides the essential components for creating the impact that can systemically transform any individual and any organization.

NEWS AND EVENTS
News and Events
Meet our partners – Marj Busse, Carollyne Conlinn and Dave Busse in Las Vegas at the annual ICF International Conference being held at Mandalay Bay – September 24-27, 2011. Note: Royal Roads is hosting a “Ten Years of Executive Coaching” celebration on the Sunday evening for Alumni.
In July, Essential Impact held their 4th annual Summer Coach House
– at the South Thompson Inn, in Kamloops. Eighteen clients attended two tracks – Building Coaching Cultures and Excelerator™ Essentials (36 hours of ICF approved coach specific training hours).
The Building Coaching Cultures track had a guest speaker each day – including: The COO of JOEY Restaurant Group; The VP Finance of Central Health Authority; The VP of IT and Project Management at Kootenay Savings Credit Union; and the ED of the Surrey Food Bank. All presented their unique perspective on building a coaching culture in their organization. Each day, participants worked on their plan for building a coaching culture in their area of work (three from Credit Unions; two external coaches working with multiple clients; one pastor of a church). On the final day, each participant presented their plan to a “Dragon”. Our guest dragons included internal coaches at the Provincial Government of BC, Pepsico Canada, and an external coach – Molly Edge).
The Excelerator™ Essentials course is a 36 hour program we offer, after a client has gone through our 3-day (24 hour) Excelerator Coaching™ workshop. This gives the participants 60 hours of ACSTH – allowing them to pursue an ACC credential through the ICF (they still have to conduct 100 hours of coaching and receive 10 hours of mentor coaching as part of the process). This class included the CEO of a mental health organization in Ontario, an HR leader at a pulp mill in BC, a leader of a Homeless initiative in Ottawa, two people from a Food Bank, several young adults – some in college, some working) – a real mix. By the end of the week, each person had worked on a One Page Business Plan for their Coaching and created a draft Mission Statement and Signature Presence.
Afternoons and evenings were free time – free to network, swim in the pool or sit in the hot tub, explore … relax and relate. It was a wonderful time of learning and having fun. And we look forward to doing it again next year.

DAVE BUSSE
Our Team: Dave Busse
dave.busse@essentialimpact.com
Dave Busse,
BEd, MBA, ACC, PCC
Partner
AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
Designing and Delivering Team Coaching, Developing Coaching Cultures, Coaching through Conflict, Curriculum Design and Development
Professional Background:
For the last three years Dave’s coaching practice has brought an analytical mind and off the wall sense of humour to his clients. Years in the life and death drama of emergency medicine give his coaching presence a groundedness and sense of purpose that is both supportive, challenging and uplifting (fun). His business acumen has been shaped and polished in the highly competitive international medical training sector competing against the best the world has to offer and winning (sometimes).
Through all of his experiences he has come to the understanding that his greatest pleasure is partnering with leaders in organizations and supporting them in developing both their personal and organizational capacities. Dave’s experience in places like Beijing (Olympic prep), Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi have shown him that leadership development is the essential element of successfully growing any change initiative. If unsupported by capable and adaptive leadership at all levels in an organization, great ideas can and do fail miserably.
Prior to becoming a full time coach Dave spent 25 years working in the Emergency Medical Services in various roles. He started as a street paramedic and finished as the Director of the Paramedic Academy at the Justice Institute of BC. In addition to providing pre hospital training programs for the residents of BC, Dave has extensive experience developing leadership training and support systems for leaders in a wide variety of cultural settings. Dave has been a part of, or directed the development of business opportunities in Hong Kong, Malaysia, UAE, Shanghai, Beijing Olympic preparation, Taiwan and with the Canadian Armed Forces.
Ultimately this collection of experiences and his studies in business leadership and organizational development have led to a strong conviction that coaching and specifically building coaching cultures in organizations is the next practical step in growing viable companies and in particular the leaders they need to survive and thrive.
Personal Background:
Married with five twenty-something kids (two in-laws), Dave enjoys fly fishing, hiking, golf, kayaking, anything outdoors and time with family.
